About each .zip child plugin
A WordPress child plugin needs to match a WordPress parent theme. If your parent plugin name is: cyan folder name: cyan the matching child plugin name would be “cyan child” folder name: cyan-child/ both these plugins would be added to ./wp-content/plugins/ in the WordPress folder hierarchy.
Each child plugin .zip file contents include:
- plugin.php
- style.css
- script.js
- readme.txt
How to install without ftp
1) Login to your WordPress Dashboard. Go here by adding wp-login.php to the end of your self hosted WordPress website URL.
Example: https://childpluginwp.com/wp-login.php
2) Navigate to: Plugins
3) Click the Add Plugin button
4) Select the child plugin .zip you’ve downloaded
5) Click activate to activate your new WordPress child plugin
6) Make plugin changes in the child plugin to update your WordPress parent plugin
You can do this in WordPress by going to: Plugins > Plugin file editor
